This Hertfordshire school building was in need of serious TLC to bring the original features back to life, and make good of the existing walls and floor. The school leadership wanted a professional finish that honoured the history of the space while staying in keeping with the function. Lots of students pass through and use the hall over the years, so the priority was getting the parquet back up to spec, and filling in any damage to the school entryway walls before the next open evening show round. Walls needed to be easy to clean and tough wearing, floor needed a proper revamp and lacquer. Time was of the essence, but we managed to get a nice job done over a summer holiday break before the kids were back in the grounds. Work carried out by M&C ;
- Full sanding and refinishing of the original herringbone parquet flooring in the main hall and adjoining areas
- Walls throughout skimmed to repair surface damage and create a smooth foundation for paint
- All walls and ceilings redecorated using durable, easy-to-clean paint in fresh, neutral tones
- Doors, radiators, and internal woodwork prepped and repainted for a cohesive, refreshed look
- Touch-ups and finishing throughout entryways and corridors to tie the project together
- Meticulous protection and cleanup processes in place to avoid disruption to the school’s schedule
- Eco low odour lacquer and paint used where poss, very important for schools eco credentials and for children’s wellbeing
